Here is an entry I wrote on the 1st of August, but it was never posted... I think I was waiting for a picture :-)
Kaspar is walking! Yes, it’s true... (Sorry Steve!) Last night, as I was beginning to wonder how I’m going to keep him awake until seven pm (if he goes to bed before seven, he’s more then likely to get up at 5am, and that’s not good!) he just got up, stood there for a moment and then took three or four steps, while holding a ball with both hands. My mother and I both gasped! It seemed unbelievable. He has been close, so close to walking for at least a month now, that we did not expect it anymore. The actual first steps came as a total surprise. I said something along the lines of „That was three steps!”, but my mom disagreed and was sure it had been five. While we sat there debating over three and five, he simply got up and walked from the doorway to the nearby chair. I was cheering and applauding and Kaspar was obviously thrilled himself with the idea of walking! However, as soon as I tried to encourage him, or ask him to come over to me, he would revert back to crawling. He’s a stubborn little fellow! He does things, when he wants to, not when asked!!! Between 6 pm and 7 pm he walked short distances throughout the different rooms in the house at the very least a dozen times. He was so intrigued by the process that after walking for a bit, he would sit down, lift up his foot, look at it, feel it and then get back up again. Funny lad! I wish I had caught the walking on camera, but I had left it at work.
